Buy Bear Hunting Licenses

This December, Florida’s black bears face a trophy hunt approved by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. With only 187 tags available, every license and tag bought by a supporter means one less opportunity for hunters to kill. Here is how you can take action directly:

Step 1: Buy a Hunting License

  • Visit the Go Outdoors Florida website

  • Register as a user

  • Click “Get a License”

  • Choose the $17/$13.50/free “fresh/hunt” hunting license based on your age (seniors 65+ are free)

  • You do not need to be a Florida resident or even a U.S. citizen to qualify

Step 2: Enter the Bear Tag Lottery

  • After August 13, the lottery will open at $5 per entry

  • Enter as many times as you can

  • If you win, purchase the tag ($100 for residents, $300 for non-residents)

  • Simply do not use the tag. This prevents a hunter from using it instead

  • 187 tags will be issued, with no minimum required to be filled

Step 3: No Safety Course Required

  • Born before June 1, 1975? No course needed

  • Born after June 1, 1975? Check the deferral box to skip the requirement

Every unused tag protects bear families from being killed in the hunt.
